Texas Workforce Commission (TWC)

The Texas Workforce Commission partners with employers to strengthen Texas' workforce through training programs, workforce grants and labor market resources. TWC administers several programs that help businesses develop skilled talent and offset training costs.

Programs include:

Apprenticeship Texas - Helps employers build a highly skilled workforce, prepare for retirements, earn business tax credits, retain qualified employees, and reduce turnover costs—all with a strong return on investment. These programs offer specialized on-the-job training, resulting in a pipeline of well-trained, high-quality workers.

Skills for Small Businesses - Helps companies with fewer than 100 employees train and upskill new and existing workers through local public community and technical colleges. Eligible businesses can receive up to $1,800 per new hire and up to $900 per incumbent employee for training tuition and fees within a 12-month period.

Skills Development Fund - Provides grants of up to $500,000 to help businesses create customized training programs for their workforce through partnerships with eligible training providers. Administered by the Texas Workforce Commission, the program supports training for full-time employees and helps companies develop the skilled talent needed to meet current and future business demands.

Texas Industry Partnership (TIP) - Helps employers address workforce skills gaps by providing matching funds of up to $150,000 for job training and other workforce development initiatives in high-demand occupations. Through partnerships with local workforce development boards, eligible businesses can strengthen their talent pipeline and support future workforce needs.
