About Peter Braster:  As the Senior Development Manager, Peter leads the City of Carrollton’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) Initiative.  The PPP Initiative consists of promoting the economic development and transit-oriented development around Carrollton’s three rail stations; the City’s 80-acre mixed-use Project Raiford, the City’s multi-family redevelopment program, community branding, and place-making. In addition, Peter is innovating the way Carrollton attracts investment by actively engaging in social media and by targeting commercial investors both here and abroad.

Leading the City of Carrollton's transit-oriented development program since 2006, Peter negotiated and managed Carrollton’s first public/ private partnership with Trammell Crow High Street Residential.  That project: The Union at Carrollton Square was the first new large scale mixed-use development in Downtown Carrollton.  Now 100% leased, the apartments have Carrollton’s highest rental rate.  The project is also the site of Carrollton’s newest restaurant – Twisted Root Burger Company.  The huge success of Phase 1 has already launched Phase 2 of the project a full year earlier than projected with occupancy starting in December 2013.

At the Trinity Mills Station, Peter leads North Texas’ first joint developer recruitment by a city and DART.  Trinity Mills Station is the largest government controlled transit-oriented development site in the DART service area.   A Request for Proposals is currently underway with the selected developer to be named in December 2013. Peter was also instrumental in attracting two new multi-family developments that will soon start construction at the North Carrollton Station along Frankford Road.  These two projects will add over 400 units of housing between the station and Carrollton’s Indian Creek Golf Course.

Mr. Braster has over 26 years of public and private experience. He began his career in engineering by working on large transportation projects including several highway, airport, and light rail systems in New York and California.  In addition, he has managed real property, real estate acquisition, public administration and governmental relations.  Mr. Braster holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.  Peter is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), ULI North Texas’ TOD Product Council, and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
